The Court of Final Appeal (TUI) has confirmed the result of the Chief Executive election that took place last Sunday. This means that Chui Sai On has officially become the fourth elected Macau CE.
Mr Chui won the elected unopposed on August 31, scoring 380 votes from the 400-member Electoral College. There were also 13 blank votes and three invalid votes, with four members failing to attend the voting process. The result will be published in the Government Gazette on August 8.
A report will be submitted to the central government, proposing the appointment of Chui Sai On to be the fourth Macau CE. In the 2009 election, Beijing officially appointed Chui two weeks after the TUI confirmed the results by publishing them in the Government Gazette.
