The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted Signal 10 today, shortly before midday, as the city braced for possibly the most destructive typhoon since 1999.

By the early afternoon, power outages were being reported across much of the Macau peninsula and the islands, and the tunnel under the Sai Van Bridge was closed due to flooding.

For these reasons, MDT will not be published tomorrow, Thursday 24 August. We will however bring you the latest news on this platform and on MDT’s website.

We apologize to our readers and hope that everyone stays safe.

This just in from CEM:
At 12:24 today, failure of the power supply cable from Zhuhai to Macau led to blackout throughout Macau. CEM started all local power generators immediately. Electricity is restoring gradually. As the power supply is still limited, for the customers who have power restored, please limit the usage. CEM apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
