Two cohorts of graduates from the one-year business management diploma program, jointly organized by the University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and Sands China Ltd, received their credentials concurrently yesterday.
“Abreast with government’s pandemic prevention measures last year, the graduation ceremony of the fifth intake has been suspended and so we are having the graduates of both fifth and sixth intakes of this program here,” vice-rector of UM Michael Hui King Man said at yesterday’s graduation ceremony.
A total of 46 graduates who enrolled in the fifth (2018-2019) and sixth intakes (2019-2020) of the program, hailed from various departments at Sands China, such as table games, facilities, and concierge.
Sean McCreery, Sands China’s senior vice president of resort operations, attended the ceremony held at the UM.
The program is beneficial to both employees and the company. It was intended to help Sands China’s staff to enhance their professional knowledge and nurture their talents, McCreery said.
He stressed that Sands China will continue to work closely with universities in Macau in a bid to breed more local talents.
“We made friends, we learned solid business knowledge and professional skills that enhanced our work performance and equipped ourselves for career development,” one of the graduates Joanna Chao delivered her speech at the ceremony.
In the ceremony, Hui also reaffirms his commitment to constantly promote continuing education in the city.
Founded in 2014, the diploma program has cultivated over 200 graduates. The next program is being planned, and is expected to begin in September 2021.
