The government will launch a trial scheme for yachts to travel freely between Macau and Guangdong Province in the middle of next year. Accordingly, 40 to 50 temporary berths will be set near the Coloane ferry terminal, revealed the Marine and Water Bureau director Ms Wong Soi Man. In the early stages of the scheme, the Bureau may limit the number of passing yachts. Wong said that implementing the new scheme will not cause pressure to Macau’s maritime traffic, as the planned berths are far away from the waterways of the Inner Harbor. She added that only yachts licensed with mutual recognition may be allowed to travel between the two cities.
