After its management overhaul, casino operator SJM Resorts, S.A. and its employee welfare department held a reception yesterday to celebrate the People’s Republic of China.
Daisy Ho, the two-week-old managing director of the casino concessionaire, officiated at the reception Tuesday, alongside Angela Leong, lawmaker and president of the employee welfare department. Also present were SJM’s secretary-general and lawyer Rui Cunha as well as lawmaker and lawyer Vong Hin Fai, advisor for SJM’s Employer-Employee Negotiation Committee.
Leong departed from managing director as Ho took office.
During her speech, Ho emphasized that “as the gambling industry is entering a new era in Macau, SJM remains completely confident in the city’s future. We will continue to fully support the government in fostering economic diversification and innovation, as well as [presenting] exquisite images for Macau and mainland China.”
Leong, on the other hand, used her speech to celebrate the achievements of China in the Winter Olympics, the Winter Paralympics and its aeronautic missions. “[These achievements] signify the inexhaustible energy of the Chinese people to progress and improve,” she remarked. “I believe, with the support of the local and national governments, Macau will definitely march towards a better future.” AL
