A man has been apprehended for strangling a woman friend and stealing two mobile phones, the Judiciary Police (PJ) has reported.
He was charged with the robbery.
According to the police, the man is from mainland China and reported to be unemployed. His surname is Liu, aged 37. The woman victim is a local resident, aged 39.
The police were told that they are just friends.
On the evening of Sept. 11, the man visited the woman’s home in the Northern district for dinner. The man was traveling in Macau.
The man was said to have consumed a lot of alcoholic drinks during dinner. Afterwards, the two argued about who should do the dishes. During the argument, Liu picked up a mobile phone cable and strangled the woman with it. While struggling against the attack, the woman managed to reach her phone and tried to call the police. Seeing this, Liu took both of the woman’s phones and fled the scene. The woman, meanwhile, contacted the police. She reported a loss of MOP18,000. AL
