The University of Macau (UM) will build a new campus in Hengqin to further promote the development of academia and research.
UM president Song Yonghua said that, at 4,000 square meters, the campus will be half the size of the current campus.
Song recalled the overall Hengqin development plan states Macau universities will be jointly promoting the fields of microelectronics, medicine, financial technology, and other disciplines, as well as partnering with global universities.
The new Hengqin campus will also launch courses in medicine, engineering, microelectronics, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and quantitative financial technology.
Meanwhile, the Zhuhai UM Institute of Science and Technology has received more than 150 government-
funded science and technology projects.
These include 96 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, 11 key projects and projects of the National Ministry of Science and Technology, six other national projects, and 43 provincial and municipal scientific research projects.
Project funding exceeds MOP77 million.
UM held its Open Day over the weekend and extended its activities to Hengqin for the first time. Staff Reporter
