Hong Kong will host the inaugural “China-California Bay-to-Bay Climate Forum” in 2024, aimed at fostering policy and research collaboration on climate issues between the San Francisco Bay Area and China’s Greater Bay Area. This event, announced in the presence of California Governor Gavin Newsom and spearheaded by Professor Peng Gong of the University of Hong Kong, is seen as a significant step towards building bridges amidst strained geopolitical circumstances. The forum will serve as an annual platform to advance mutual understanding and joint efforts against climate change, leveraging the technological strengths of the two renowned bay areas, the HK SAR government said.
