The Judiciary Police (PJ) has received a total of 25 complaints from people deceived while attempting to purchase tickets for the concerts by the K-pop group “Seventeen,” held in Macau last weekend.
The PJ is said to have received complaints from 25 different people claiming to have been scammed while trying to acquire tickets online, reporting a total loss of about MOP105,354.
The complaints were filed with the PJ between January 18 (Thursday) and January 22 (Monday).
The PJ did not clarify how the victims were lured into acquiring the tickets, saying only that the cases involve “online purchases.”
The force also noted that most of the victims were young and, so far, only four out of the 25 are residents of Macau with 21 other cases reported relating to tourists.
There are reports of people losing significantly high sums as they were willing to pay over MOP12,000 for a concert single ticket. RM
