Over 200,000 cross Macau’s borders

General Images Of Casinos In MacauBetween 12 a.m. and 5 p.m. yesterday, authorities recorded a combined total of 213,276 arrivals and departures at various Macau border crossings. A total of 101,576 people arrived in the territory yesterday, while 111,700 left Macau, the Government Information Bureau revealed.
At the Border Gate checkpoint, authorities recorded a total of 68,661 arrivals and 82,256 departures, while the Macau Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal recorded 16,289 arrivals and 12,676 departures. Finally, at the Macau International Airport, authorities recorded 4,729 arrivals and 5,346 departures.
Police authorities revealed that crowd-control measures will be in place over the Chinese New Year. Different levels of crowd management may be applied depending on the real-time situation. Authorities are expecting large crowds in the central district, as well as in the Border Gate checkpoint area, up until February 28. Besides dispatching extra personnel to ensure public order, the Public Security Police will be implementing crowd-control measures at San Ma Lo, Senado Square and at the Border Gate. PSP has established three levels of crowd control; the most severe involves possibly barring people from entering Senado Square.
