A man in his 20s, who was previously banned from entering the region, attempted to use a stolen passport to enter Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint. The suspect, who has not been identified, claimed to have found the passport on the mainland in late April and intended to use it to gamble in Macau.
However, authorities noticed that the photo in the passport did not match the suspect’s appearance. Upon further questioning, the suspect presented a different identity document. A background check revealed that the individual had been banned from entering the region for three years due to his involvement in a fraud case that is still under investigation.
The suspect confessed to offering a RMB100 bribe to the driver of a seven-seater vehicle at the Zhuhai Bridge Port, in exchange for the driver helping him to bypass customs. The driver refused and later informed the authorities that he had been instructed by his company to pick up passengers at a designated location for customs clearance. The driver, a Macau resident, is now under investigation for potentially providing unlicensed transport services. Staff Reporter
