Transport, storage sector grows significantly in 2023

A total of 3,073 establishments were in the Transport, Storage & Communications Sector, down 220 from the previous year. However, employment rose 2,100 to 21,079, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported. The sector’s receipts reached MOP27.43 billion, increasing by 62.9%, while expenditures rose 43.7% to MOP21.8 billion, yielding a gross surplus of MOP5.62 billion, up 237%. Gross Value Added surged 77.1% to MOP10.9 billion. The Transport & Storage Sector saw 3,044 establishments, with receipts soaring 112.9% to MOP20.41 billion, driven by passenger and cargo transport growth, while air and sea transport receipts increased over 200%.
