Belarus plans to set up a partnership with Mozambican businesspeople to assemble agricultural tractors in the East African country using parts manufactured in Belarus, which was recently visited by Mozambique’s Prime Minister Alberto Vaquina, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.
The partnership for construction of the assembly line is part of the general cooperation agreement signed by deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Henrique Banze of Mozambique and Valentin Ribakov of Belarus.
Mozambique’s Industry and Trade Minister, Armando Inroga, said that the five units that had been sent for an experimental phase adapted well to conditions in Mozambique and that they would be sold at competitive prices.
Inroga said that investment in the partnership would come from the Belarus State and from Mozambican businesspeople interested in being involved in the business.
The general agreement re-launches economic and social cooperation between the two countries and will cover 11 areas, notably agriculture, education, agricultural equipment, agricultural processing and others. MDT/Macauhub
