The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) has promised that it will financially support all concerts taking place at the Lusofonia Festival. IACM had considered making changes to the festival’s scheme, suggesting that the Bureau would no longer fund all music groups coming to town during the festival, from several Portuguese-
speaking countries.
According to media reports, a number of associations involved in the event later threatened not to organize the festival this year, if the aforementioned changes were to be implemented.
IACM said yesterday that it will be funding the concerts, as well as the bands’ accommodation in Macau throughout the festival.
The Lusofonia festival is due to take place in October at Taipa Houses-Museum, highlighting Portuguese-speaking countries’ handicraft, gastronomy, and art.
