Construction worker dies at Hollywood Roosevelt site

A migrant worker died after being hit by a falling vertical lift at the construction site of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Cotai. This is the third fatal industrial accident that has occurred in the city this month. According to the Fire Services, at about 2pm yesterday a continuous vertical lift transporting construction materials fell from height as its wire rope broke. The male worker, about 40 years old, was crushed by the falling lift and seriously injured with multiple fractures. He was sent to the Conde S. Januário Hospital but died shortly afterwards. The Labor Affairs Bureau director, Wong Chi Hong, responded to the incident, acknowledging the need to reinforce safety inspections by the authorities at construction sites.
