Crime | Woman faces prosecution for insulting police officers

renato-marquespoliciaA local female casino host is facing prosecution for hurling continuous verbal abuse at police officers during an interrogation, following a brawl outside a local karaoke parlor early yesterday morning.
The suspect, surnamed Ng, was placed in detention by authorities after her alleged involvement in a fight at the entrance of a karaoke venue. A short time into her stay at the police station, she was asked by police officers to stop playing music loudly from her cellphone, according to a police representative.
After a while, the 26-year-old reportedly started chatting with an unknown person on her phone. Her inappropriate behavior once again drew warnings from the officers, who demanded she end the conversation. The suspect then started to aggressively yell at the police officers, later claiming that the abuse was actually directed at the other end of the call, the police representative recounts.
She then continued her phone conversation despite the police officers’ multiple warnings. Afterwards, the irate suspect made another angry outburst, blasting the police officers in the interrogation room with abusive language that could be clearly heard even from outside the ward.
The suspect was finally sent to the MP after admitting to the verbal abuse. Staff reporter

Taking a machete to court

A Macau citizen has been placed in detention by authorities after a machete was found inside his bag on the afternoon of April 10 during a security check at the First Instance Court. The 27-year-old suspect alleged that he received the 10.5-centimeter-long blade as a free giveaway over ten years ago on a shopping trip, and he had forgotten about its existence in his hand-carried shopping bag. The man was sent to the prosecution department the next day.
