West Africa visitors pass Ebola health check

A contingency plan responding to the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa has been in full swing in Macau since the end of July, with authorities assessing the health condition of at least three visitors from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone over the past two days, the Health Bureau said. The three visitors did not present symptoms of the disease.
Macau announced recently that citizens from the three African countries will undergo health checks on arrival. Those suspected of carrying the virus will be isolated for further health assessment, whereas those that have not presented any symptoms will sill be contacted by phone each day throughout their stay.
In Hong Kong, authorities are also stepping up efforts to keep the virus at bay, but health officials have recognized that it will be difficult to follow Macau’s lead and contact nationals of the three countries on a daily basis, while they’re staying in HKSAR.
“Each place has its own way of preventing the virus,” said Dr Leung Ting-hung, controller of the Center for Health Protection, as quoted by South China Morning Post.
The recent outbreak of Ebola virus is believed to have killed over 700 people so far.
