Angola has posted the highest economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa since 2007 and stands among countries with the highest per capita gross domestic product, the director of the Department of Territorial Development and Public/Private Partnerships of the Ministry of Economy, Rui Simões, said in Luanda.
At a seminar on the development of clusters in Angola, Simões explained that the Angolan economy posted an average real growth rate of 9.10 percent from 2007 to 2012, with per capita GDP at US$6,070.
He cited another report on progress in Africa produced by the Africa Progress Panel, which places Angola in the group of ten countries whose per capita income grew the most between 2000 and 2012.
The report states that Angola ranked second in per capita GDP growth (at an average annual rate of over 6 percent) during that period, while Cape Verde ranked fourth and Mozambique eighth.
The seminar on cluster development was promoted by the Economy and Finance Committee of the Angolan National Assembly to provide members with more knowledge about the subject, to build internal capacities and consequently improve the performance of that sovereign body. MDT/Macauhub
