China is the second main market for automobiles produced in Portugal, surpassed only by Germany, the Portuguese Automobile Trade Association (ACAP) reported in Lisbon.
Sector production figures show that between January and July of this year China imported 15.2 percent of the 108,600 automobile vehicles made in Portugal during the period. Only Germany imported more (21.6 percent).
The European Union countries were altogether the top destination of Portuguese auto production, accounting for 75.2 percent of the total. France and the United Kingdom respectively acquired 13.8 percent and 10.2 percent of the total.
Overall, auto exports increased 6.2 percent year-
on-year in the first seven months of this year, rising to 105,100 vehicles (96.8 percent of the production total).
The ACAP figures also indicate that the number of automobiles produced in Portugal rose 7.5 percent year-on-year from January thru July.
