A partnership between the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is offering a one-year internship for an IFT alumna in the international body’s headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
The IFT graduate, Mandy Ho, was selected from a group of candidates for the one-year internship at the UNWTO’s headquarters. She is assigned to UNWTO’s Regional Program for Asia and the Pacific. IFT is providing Ho with a MOP40,000 scholarship to support her expenses during the internship, which will last until the end of May 2017.
The institute’s statement added that the alumna advised all IFT alumni to maintain close ties with the institute after graduating, as the organization regularly provides its alumni with useful information, including details on new courses, promotional offers and other activities.
IFT has been maintaining a long-term partnership with UNWTO. Earlier in 2015, the MSAR and UNWTO signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Macau.
The objective of the memorandum was to enhance cooperation between the two parties in improving the quality of human capital and increasing the competitiveness of tourism destinations (particularly in the Asia Pacific Region) in order to achieve sustainable tourism development.
The Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training, which is soon going to be involved with IFT, is tasked with the responsibility of organizing training and education programs, and other projects in collaboration with UNWTO, so as to achieve the objectives set out in the memorandum.
