Hu Zucai, the deputy director of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said yesterday that the completion of the Hong Kong section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project is behind schedule, according to a report by Macao Daily News. Hu said the world-class project requires technology of a high standard, resulting in the possibility of delays on all sides. Hu claims, however, that the overall process is still running smoothly. When questioned whether the Zhuhai and Macau sides will be completed before the Hong Kong section, the deputy director said all sections of the bridge will commence operations at the same time.  The construction of the Hong Kong section has been plagued by various difficulties, including cost overruns and delays.
