Girl bruised and scarred at local nursery

A little girl received several bruises and scars on her face and hands while being taken care of at a nursery located in the Toi San area.
On September 26 the girl’s mother noticed the injuries while picking up her daughter from the nursery. She questioned the school immediately, but the school did not give her clear answers regarding the incident.
The mother then spoke to the girl’s head teacher through WeChat, where she was told that the child had been beaten by another child in the afternoon in the nursery’s game room.
The girl was then taken to Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário, where doctors believed that the injuries had been caused by human nails, and had been most likely inflicted by an adult due to the shape of the scars, according to a report by Today Macao while citing a Facebook post.
The girl’s parents then reported the case to the Public Security Police Force (PSP). A preliminary investigation shows that the injuries were caused by a second child, but the PSP is still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the Social Affairs Bureau (IAS) said that it met with the child and her parents on the day the incident was revealed. The department also sent members of the staff to inspect the nursery afterwards, and confirmed that the nursery holds a license issued by the IAS, who claims that it is “not appropriate for the department to make comments at this stage, as the case has entered judicial process.” JZ
