Sulu Sou
The lawmakers voted this afternoon (Monday) for the suspension of the mandate of pro-democracy legislator Sulu Sou.
In a secret ballot, 28 members of the AL voted for the suspension. Only four legislators voted against the suspension of the mandate.
Sulu Sou, 26, is accused of civil disobedience in a lawsuit related to a protest last year against a controversial donation from the Macao Foundation to the University of Jinan in Guangdong Province.
With the suspension of his legislative immunity, Sou can now stand trial in court.
The suspension will be enforced from tomorrow (Tuesday).
