Several law enforcement agencies from the region, including the Chinese Ministry of Public Security Narcotics Control Bureau, the Hong Kong Police Force and Macau’s Judiciary Police have taken part in a joint seminar on drug crime.
Tuesday’s event sought to discuss issues related to issues for the law enforcement and sought opportunities for further cooperation in preventing, investigating and penalizing cross-border drug crimes.
During his speech, PJ director Wong Sio Chak said that the constant emergence of new strategies by drug criminals and the differences in the legal systems across the three regions have posed immense challenges for law enforcement agencies. He believes that cross-
border drug crimes can be better prevented and tackled by strengthening collaboration of the police forces in the three regions.
The director of the mainland Narcotics Control Bureau, Liu Yuejin, said in his speech that through the seminar, anti-drug departments can better understand each other and facilitate better cooperation. He also noted that the communication, intelligent exchange, joint-operation and training of personnel between the anti-drugs departments from the three regions have made significant improvements since the organizations’ previous seminar.
