Briefs | Macau to launch int’l art carnival in 2019

The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, said that Macau will hold another international event begining next year.

On August 30, while attending the China-Japan-South Korea Cultural Ministers’ meeting in Harbin, China, Tam revealed that Macau will hold a four month long Macau International Arts Carnival starting from next year. Tam hopes that the art carnival can become “the new Asian platform for international art exchange.” Tam also met with Chinese cultural minister Luo Shugang. The two government officials spoke about cultural communication between mainland China and Macau, youth history and cultural education, and the cultural development of the Greater Bay Area.

More residents report stolen credit card information

Another three Macau residents have reported stolen credit card information to the Judiciary Police (PJ) last week. In August, more than 20 residents in total have filed similar reports to the police authority. These new victims claim to have lost approximately MOP8,000, after their credit cards were used 14 times. All the credit cards were used to purchase mobile apps. In August alone, 20 residents reported to the Judiciary Police that their credit cards had allegedly been stolen. In total, the 20 victims reported a loss of USD16,000. The PJ later discovered that all the victims had visited a foreign tourism website with an address starting with the letter K.
