Briefs | Non-resident workers reach 161,370

The number of non-resident workers reached 161,370 in August, representing four percent of Macau’s population, Radio Macau reported. Mainland Chinese citizens are the largest community of non-residents, reaching 104,527. The Filipino community reached 20,625. This represents an increase of 20,605 non-resident workers between January and August. When compared to August last year, Macau has more 34,137 non-resident workers.

Lecture on Chinese poems at IFT

A public talk, titled “How Chinese Poems help understand the inter-cultural exchange between the East and the West in Macau”, will be held tomorrow at the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT). IFT’s Macau Heritage Tour Guide Course graduates and representatives of Cultural Heritage Tourist Guide Association of Macau have been invited to deliver the talk. They will provide insights into Macau’s early economic development, folkloric traditions, and the Macau peoples’ socialization, cultural and religious practices.
