Briefs: Visitors entry increases by 8 pct over Christmas

Immigration authorities recorded a total of 3.95 million people who crossed the seven immigration checkpoints of Macau during the Christmas holiday period – between December 20 and 28 – with more than 1.3 million tourists arriving. The visitors’ arrival number is 7.87 percent higher than the same period last year.The Border Gate Checkpoint remains the most popular checkpoint, with 1.4 million people arriving and 1.46 million people departing through that checkpoint during the said period. The number of arrival and departures at the Outer Ferry Terminal Checkpoint also stood at 264,309 and 223,522 respectively.

SMG launches new version of its website

The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) is launching a new version of its website.. The new website will retain its current web address at www.smg.gov.mo. In a statement, SMG said that it has been improving its website to keep the public updated on weather conditions as well as to provide more detailed meteorological information. The bureau said it has also improved its ability to provide realtime information from all of its monitoring stations. SMG said it will continue perfecting its website according to technical innovations. Furthermore, the bureau welcomes suggestions and opinions from the public on the new version of its website once launched.
