Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng departed for Fujian Province yesterday for official visits and negotiations regarding cooperation between the two jurisdictions, the government announced in a statement.
The head of the government will return home on Oct. 27.
This delegation will include officials such as Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong, chief of the CE office Hoi Lai Fong and chief of Lei’s office Ku Mei Leng.
In this visit, the local delegation will visit Fuzhou and Xiamen. The former city is the provincial capital and the latter is one of the first four Special Economic Zones in China.
During his visit, Ho will have high-level meetings with his Fujian counterparts, in particular the Macao-Fujian Cooperation Conference. The delegation will also visit projects on “Big Health,” technology and urban planning in Fuzhou.
During the Cooperation Conference, Lei will meet members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Fujian Province, Guo Ningning, and sign the fourth “Memorandum on Deepening Cooperation between Fujian and Macao.”
In Xiamen, Ho will attend the opening ceremony of the “Macao Week in Fujian-Xiamen” where a Macau delegation of entrepreneurs will attend a Xiamen-Macau business-matching and networking seminar.
While the CE is away, Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong will be Acting CE. AL
