The commemorative exhibition of the 30th anniversary of the enactment of the Basic Law of Macau, organized by the Legal Affairs Bureau, the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau, opened yesterday and will run for two consecutive months.
Unlike traditional photographic exhibitions, this exhibition uses interactive multimedia. It presents visitors with more than 350 photographs recording the significant changes that have taken place in Macau over the last 180 years. It includes historical photographs of important moments, such as the Sino-Portuguese negotiations, the signing of the Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration and the enactment and implementation of the Macau Basic Law.
In addition to offering guided tours at the exhibition site, the organizing body has also organized visits by teachers and students from various primary and secondary schools to “deepen young people’s knowledge of the Basic Law and to increase their sense of national identity,” according to a statement issued by the government.
The exhibition will continue from today until June 2 for two consecutive months, at the Science Center. There will be guided tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In addition to the exhibition at the Science Centre, itinerant community exhibitions will also be launched in the middle of this month, visiting community areas of Macau, Taipa and Coloane to raise awareness and publicize the Basic Law. On Sundays, the Macau Lawyers Association will provide legal consultation services to residents attending the traveling exhibitions. Staff Reporter
