To further support the “Responsible Gambling Promotions 2018”, MGM has hosted a two-week program themed “Gambling is Not Business, Stay in Control” for its Golden Lion Team members at its two properties.

Initiatives included MGM’s homemade short film, animation, workshops, roadshows, professional counseling services and online quizzes.

To date, MGM has provided over 32,000 training hours on responsible gaming for its team members, with an average of 1.5 hours per team members each year, the gaming operator stated in its press release.

Also, the company set up various booths with interactive games and quizzes, information boards, promotional materials and WeChat chat rooms, in its back-of-the-house areas at both MGM Macau and MGM Cotai, attracting around 1,300 participants and receiving positive feedback.

MGM hosted two workshops for about 200 team members on December 4 and 6 with topics such as gambling probability and its prevailing myths, risks of borrowing money and credit card overdrafts, and the prevention of gambling disorders.

SJM charity auction raises mop2.9 million

The 2018 SJM Charity Auction and Michelin-starred Dinner hosted by SJM raised a total of MOP2,936,000 to be donated to ten charities in Macau.

The high point of the evening was the auction of a giant 1,000-gram Italian white truffle.  According to a press release, after intense bidding, SJM, represented by managing director and chief Administrative officer Angela Leong, was the successful bidder for the item at MOP1.6 million.

Other auction items included one bottle (0.75L) of Romanée-Conti 2001 and one bottle (3L) of Montrachet 2011, a deluxe VIP Travel Package to Japan including two business class tickets to Osaka plus two nights in a Premier Room at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto, amongst others.

This year’s charity auction also comprised a silent auction held during the cocktail reception.

Ambrose So, chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, said, “This year marks the twelfth anniversary of our charity auction and dinner, which follows the tradition established by our founder, Dr. Stanley Ho, in giving back to the local community.  We are delighted to see that the spirited bidding for the auction items has successfully raised MOP2,936,000 for worthy charities in Macau.”
