MGM’s “Golden Lion Team member”, Lao Sio Lei from the stewarding team, was bestowed with the “Outstanding Employees with Disabilities Award”, along with nine other winners.
The winners were selected by a professional panel of judges, at an event co-organized by the Labor Affairs Bureau and the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macau.
This year’s edition, the seventh of its kind, continued in the tradition of previous years in its aim to recognize talented individuals with disabilities who show exemplary on-the-job performance and attitude.
Lao Sio Lei, the award recipient, “possesses a positive working attitude and communicates with her colleagues and supervisors effectively,” according to a statement from the gaming operator.
MGM has won a total of six awards from the “Hiring Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme” and “Outstanding Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme”, both organized by the two aforementioned government bureaus.
cem sends off singapore-bound delegation
Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) recently sent a 30-member delegation to Singapore to exchange views on power generation, power supply and energy-efficient buildings with Singaporean energy company, Power Automation Pte Ltd.
CEM says that the purpose behind the visit was to use the similar experiences of Macau and Singapore – in that both have seen rapid urban development in a short period of time – to understand how they can both ensure the stability of their cities’ power supply.
The company’s statement said that members of CEM’s Customer Liaison Committee were very interested in issues such as power grid and energy conservation, and they benefited a lot from the exchange activities.
The delegation also visited the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore to understand the university’s efforts in energy conservation and emission reduction.
