Corporate bits | Sands China receives top honors at marketing events awards

Sands China Limited received 10 awards at the Marketing Events Awards 2017 North Asia for the Parisian Macao’s Grand Opening last year.

Sands China Limited won the prestigious “Best of Show – Brand award,” as well as gold awards for “Best Large Event,” “Best Product Launch Event,” “Best Use of Venue,” “Best Event – Design” and “Best VIP event,” a silver award for “Best Media Event” and bronze awards for “Most Innovative Event,” “Best Use of Influencer/Advocates” and “Best Event Targeted Community.”

According to a press release from Sands China, the Parisian Macao grand opening took 10 months of planning and was the culmination of a USD13 billion investment. Belgian singer Lara Fabian and Chinese actress and singer Karen Mok performed at the opening, where an eight-meter hot air balloon brought the main characters on stage, along with a finale of choreographed fireworks and a light show on the 525-foot tower. Other events for the day included a lion dance and blessing ceremony, red carpet and cocktail reception, opening ceremony and gala dinner.

Gene Capuano, Sands China’s senior vice president of conventions and Venetian operations, commented, “We are honored and delighted that our newest integrated resort, the Parisian Macao, has been recognized for these prestigious awards.”

According to the press release, the Marketing Events Awards, produced by the magazine Marketing Interactive, recognize and honor the best of Asia’s events marketing, management and planning industry.

Over 100 restaurants attend iFood award

The second “iFood Award” was held at the Venetian Macao on Saturday. The awards present the dining culture of Macau and show residents’ preferences in food and beverage.

The iFood Award is co-organized by iFood Macau, the made-in-Macau mobile application, and the Association of Quality Green Brand.

This year’s edition was held in collaboration with the Macau Franchise Expo (MFE).

According to a press release from iFood, nominations were collected in the form of on-street survey and through iFood’s official WeChat. The voting process took place on iFood’s Facebook page and WeChat account from mid- April to June. Some of the awards included “Tourists’ Favorite Award,” “Quality Service Restaurant Award,” and “My Favorite Dish Award”.

Representatives from more than 100 local restaurants attended the ceremony, including 10 local food stalls that offered food samples. Representatives from the government and local associations, including the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau, attended the ceremony to show their support.

Lei Iam Ieong, chief executive officer of iFood Macau, stated in the press release that “the demography of citizens’ preferences in terms of food and beverage, surveyed through interaction with diners, is beneficial to improving the general dining quality.”
