Sands China Ltd. is participating in Responsible Gambling 2015 with several initiatives promoting responsible gaming in the local community. It is the company’s seventh straight year participating in the annual campaign, which is jointly organized by the Macao SAR Social Welfare Bureau, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) and the University of Macau.
This year, the company’s efforts involve organizing a responsible gaming quiz for its team members for the fourth year, setting up walls at its properties’ back-of-house areas to recognize the company’s Responsible Gaming Ambassadors, setting up notice boards promoting Responsible Gambling 2015, and making donations to three responsible gaming centers.
As part of its support for Responsible Gambling 2015, Sands China organized a responsible gaming quiz Oct 12-16, in an effort to enhance team members’ knowledge of house advantage, probability, the self-exclusion application, and the concepts behind games of skill. Prizes were given to 50 randomly drawn team members from among those who had answered all questions correctly. This year’s quiz attracted more than 5,400 participants – the highest number to date, doubling last year’s participation.
mgm hosts wine dinner featuring ‘1812’ by château beau-séjour bécot
MGM Macau is holding a wine pairing dinner at Imperial Court Chinese Restaurant on October 31. French winemaker Julien Barthe of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot will be at the dinner to converse and share insights with guests on the appreciation of MGM’s private label “1812,” produced by his very own winery.
The “1812” by Château Beau-Séjour Bécot was specially created to commemorate the grand opening date of MGM Macau (December 18, 2007). The Château, ranked premiere grand cru classé B, is situated in the region of Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux’s wine region, and produces approximately 5,000 cases of wine each year; its vineyard is 16.5 hectares, with Merlot as the dominant grape variety. Julien Barthe has just finished the 2015 harvest at the Château and is coming to MGM exclusively to meet with wine connoisseurs in Macau to present the 2009 and 2010 bottles of “1812.”
Led by Chef Louie Vong, Executive Sous Chef of Chinese Culinary at MGM, the 6-course menu of Cantonese dishes include Marinated black fungus and fresh cordycep flower salad in yuzu dressing, Wok friend sliced pigeon with Chinese kale shoot and termite mushrooms and Hook-roasted goose with preserved vegetables.
