CPM president to serve again

The current president of Casa de Portugal (CPM), Maria Amélia António, has announced that she will again stand for the position this year, after earlier indicating that she would not be.
Speaking to the Times over the weekend, the 11-year association head explained her decision as two-fold. Firstly, nobody else has yet stepped forward to lead the organization, and secondly, CPM has a mounting debt, which she says “must be resolved.”
“The association has some [financial] problems […] and we don’t have time to recover these funds at the moment,” she said. “So I feel like I cannot step down without solving the situation first, which can only be solved slowly.”
