CTM has made an official announcement launching the eSIM service in Macau, being the first telecom operator to launch such a service, with the objective of accelerating the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital evolution in Macau.
CTM stated that IoT technology and applications are important components of a “Digital Macau 2.0.”
As the first telecom operator in Macau to launch eSIM service, this demonstrates CTM’s determination and commitment to promote the construction of a smart city, the firm said in a statement.
CTM pledged it will continue to explore further eSIM application scenarios, including on wearable devices, Internet of Vehicles, and more. The first phase of CTM eSIM service supports all prepaid card and mobile postpaid service with the covering of designated handset models that support eSIM. It is expected that CTM eSIM service will extend the coverage to include other smart wearable devices by the end of the year. eSIM is an embedded chip, digitalizing the physical SIM card.
