In preparation for the start of the new school year, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) has issued a series of recommendations for parents, urging them to pay attention to pandemic updates, and noting other factors such as traffic and weather conditions.
In a statement, the DSEDJ noted that, while schools are already preparing for the new academic year and implementing measures aimed at epidemic prevention, parents should nonetheless pay attention to road traffic conditions, as there are usually jams at the beginning of the new academic year.
The DSEDJ also stated that it has maintained close communication with the Transport Bureau and other relevant departments, and asked schools to make appropriate arrangements for students who might be late due to unexpected traffic conditions.
Additionally, since it is now the season for frequent rainstorms and typhoons in Macau, parents are advised to pay close attention to weather updates.
To ensure the safety of students, schools will keep their premises open when classes are suspended due to adverse weather, including when red or black rainstorm warnings are issued.
The bureau added that schools have a duty of care for students who have arrived at school and must arrange appropriate educational activities for them, so parents do not need to rush to pick them up from school.
Schools will continue operation as normal when the yellow rainstorm warning signals are issued.
Special advice was also issued for cross-border students, reminding them that the current requirements for border-crossing between Zhuhai and Macau include cross-border students and school staff undergo nucleic acid test (NAT) and retain a valid negative NAT result to cross the border.
