The government will take effective action to ensure local people receive priority for employment and to secure gaming employees’ stable careers following the awarding of licenses to the casino operators, Chief Executive (CE) Ho Iat Seng has said. He also stated that in governmental administration, the improvement of livelihood is always the main objective.
The CE was attending the inauguration ceremony of the 36th committee of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions. He gave a speech on the ceremony, saying that the government would continue to improve labor law and policies, strengthen the implementation of occupational safety and health, and guarantee the legal rights and interests of employees to build a healthy and safe working environment for workers.
Career training will also be enhanced, according to the CE, to encourage workers to improve their quality and competence to achieve a horizontal and upward flow of labor.
Looking forward to the new year, the CE said that with the implementation of the “1+4” development scheme, the construction of the Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, and the execution of China’s policy in support of Macau’s development, a new development opportunity for Macau is coming.
He expressed hope that the Macau Federation of Trade Unions will remain focussed on the big picture, unite Macau workers from all industries, and make continuous contributions to a better home.
