European Union simulation to take place at UM

1-University-Macau-resizedThe Macau Model European Union (EU) 2015 simulation will be held this weekend at the University of Macau (UM), bringing together 56 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The simulation is aimed at broadening students’ international horizons, enhancing their understanding of European institutions, and cultivating their debating, public speaking and negotiating abilities.
Students will be divided into teams of two – each team representing one of the 28 member states of the EU. They will discuss and develop a common position for this year’s conference theme: the migration wave currently affecting Europe.
Participants are required to keep informed about relevant developments, and to even submit a document before the opening of the simulation, known as a position paper, which outlines their country’s policy.
The three best students will be awarded a free study mission to Europe, while the four runners-up and the student who presents the best position paper will receive cash prizes.
Participants in the simulation include students from Macau’s six tertiary institutions.
The event is public and will be held in the Senate Room (Building N6, Room G010) of the University of Macau. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow, and the conference will conclude the following day.
The Macau Model EU is organized by the European Union Academic Program in Macau in collaboration with the Youth Association of International Affairs.
