Four injured in armed fight in Areia Preta eatery

At about 1 p.m. yesterday, a fight took place in an eatery located in Areia Preta District, resulting in four injured people, the Public Security Police Force (PSP) confirmed in a reply to an enquiry by the Times.

The PSP added that the case, due to its criminal nature, had been referred to the Judiciary Police (PJ) for investigation.

According to the PJ last night, the cause of the case was related to family and financial conflict. Five people were in a negotiation that later developed into a fight. Somebody from the group took out a knife and stabbed a victim.

There are two victims, aged 33 and 68 years, both local and injured. The remaining three, aged between 34 and 67 years, were identified as suspects.

The matter was first unearthed by video clips taken and posted online by pedestrians. A clip showed that a person was being strangled by the arm by another person. Meanwhile, two older men were standing outside the eatery.

A picture showed a man lying on a stretcher in an unclear level of consciousness. Blood can be seen over his body.

All were sent to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital for treatment.

The owner of the eatery told the Macao Daily News that the four started fighting on the streets, but the matter suddenly developed and spilled into the shop.

Among the four, a local man, aged 34 years, was severely injured and had lost consciousness. He sustained massive bleeding from the left of his chest, as well as stab wounds to his left forearm and left index finger.

The remaining three injured were in stable condition despite needing medical attention. AL
