Visitor arrivals surge 11% in Q1, fueled by same-day visitor growth

Visitor arrivals to Macau rose by 11.1% year-on-year to 9.86 million in the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC),

This growth was largely driven by a 21.5% increase in same-day visitors, which totaled 5.82 million, while overnight visitors saw a slight decline of 1.1%, reaching 4.04 million.

The average length of stay decreased by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.1 days, reflecting the higher proportion of same-day visitors. Same-day visitors stayed for an average of 0.2 day, while the duration of stay for overnight visitors remained steady at 2.2 days.

Visitors from mainland China made up the largest share, increasing by 14.5% to 7.21 million. Notably, the number of visitors from the Greater Bay Area’s nine Pearl River Delta cities surged by 18.8%, with Zhuhai seeing a significant rise of 50.3%.

International arrivals also grew by 16.9% to 682,442, with notable increases from the Republic of Korea (33%) and Japan (23.6%). Visitors from Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines and Indonesia, saw strong growth as well.

In terms of arrival points, land arrivals accounted for 82.1% of the total, with a 15.4% increase, while air arrivals grew slightly by 0.9%.
