Gaming | Analyst predicts few gaming tables for new casinos

New casino projects may be granted only 100 to 150 gaming tables each and this is a prediction that an UBS Securities Asia Limited analyst has said is becoming increasingly likely, according to Macau Daily.
“There have been rumors that Galaxy [phase two] can accommodate 500 [new gaming tables]. The management [of the resort] hopes that they can have 300 [new gaming tables]. The market predicts that they get 200, and it is possible that ultimately they only get 100 to 150. The result will come out as soon as March or April,” said UBS analyst Anthony Wong.
The analyst pointed out that the Macau government has set a three-percent target for the annual growth of gaming tables in the next decade. This means that the six new casino projects that are set to open in the coming years will receive a total of 1,800 tables. However, the allocation of the tables will be determined by how many the operators already have, along with their non-gaming facilities.
Moreover, Wong predicts that the February gaming revenue will slump by 37 to 42 percent year-on-year.
