Guangdong to form youth association with Hong Kong and Macau

The Vice Chairman of Guangdong Youth Association, Li Ju Ren, announced this week plans to establish a united youth association with members from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. The association would facilitate communications among youth from the three regions, mainland media reported.
Last year, the association launched a program to bring Macau and Hong Kong youth to the mainland to learn about Chinese history, business and more. Over 43,500 young people from both SARs were involved. According to Li, such alliances will “enhance the knowledge of history, of culture, of economy and of society.”
Over the next five years, the association plans to bring 50,000 young people from Hong Kong to the mainland to promote entrepreneurship. The association believes that entrepreneurship in Hong Kong is limited by the high cost of doing business in the city, whereas mainland provinces such as Guangdong are easier platforms for young people to launch their careers.
The association plans to enhance academic collaboration  within the three regions. It will summon researchers in fields such as political science, sociology and public administration to provide participating youth with career guidance.
Li declared that the association and its programs would “[help] discover the young leaders of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.”
