Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will make his first official trip to Portugal since becoming the city’s top official. Although no official announcement has yet been made, the trip will likely be in April, according to Portuguese media outlet Plataforma. The same report confirmed the direct involvement of the President of Portugal, which means Ho Iat Seng will be received by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. This will be Ho Iat Seng’s first trip outside Greater China since he took office in December 2019. Official foreign visits have been discouraged due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
MGTO hosts trip for HK delegates to boost tourism
The local government has hosted a two-day familiarization trip for over 100 members of Hong Kong’s tourism office to boost visitors from the neighboring region after the complete end of Covid-19 related restrictions. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has unfolded a promotional campaign with different special offers tailored for the Hong Kong market. Special offers on transportation tickets between Hong Kong and Macau are included, while brand-new promotional videos have been released on online and offline platforms. The government has reserved a budget of MOP 650 million to increase visitor numbers, of which MOP 180 million is for targeted group tours.
