International Museum | Day 14 museums to participate in upcoming carnival

The Macau International Museum Day Carnival 2021 on May 9 will feature a total of 14 participating museums to commemorate International Museum Day, themed as “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine.”
With a budget of MOP250,000, director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s Department of Exhibition and Museums, Sam Hou In, said that the bureau expects the event will be attended by some 1,000 residents.
Sam also noted that authorities are considering integrating VR technology into museum exhibitions to attract more visitors.
The Grand Prix Museum is slated to be one of the local museums to participate in the upcoming carnival at the Macao Science Center.
The Grand Prix Museum, under the management of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will hold two workshops at the carnival, namely a “plaster model car painting” workshop and a “motorcycle keychain by shrink plastic” workshop.
Meanwhile, MGTO’s acting chief of Tourism Product and Activity, Lei Wan Wai, said that the reservation tickets for the Grand Prix Museum in the first three days of May were already sold out.
It is expected that more than 300 visitors will be received every day and that 90% of the visitors will be local residents.
Although the number of visitors to the revamped museum has been gradually increasing, the anti-epidemic measure is still in place, meaning that it can only accommodate a certain number of visitors per day.
