Jewish group urges steps in Europe to combat anti-Semitism

The president of the European Jewish Congress is urging governments to quickly adopt measures to stop the rising hatred of Jews on the continent.
Moshe Kantor was talking yesterday ahead of a two-day international meeting in Prague organized by his group that gathers speakers of parliaments, lawmakers, lawyers, experts and politicians to discuss the issue.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Kantor says changes in EU legislation are needed, such as the establishment of a ministry for security, a special envoy for anti-Semitism and legislation for promoting tolerance.
After four French Jews were killed by Islamic extremists at a kosher market in Paris earlier this month, Kantor says the Jewish communities are frightened, and significantly increased security is needed to protect them.
