Ladies Club of Macau celebrates 30 years

The International Ladies Club of Macau (ILCM) hosted their annual dinner on Thursday to conclude their previous year and usher in a new one, as well as celebrate over 30 years of charitable works.
The dinner was held at the Grand Coloane Resort and attended by around 100 people, who enjoyed Indian cuisine and a selection of drinks.
The ILCM celebrated successful fundraising efforts in 2014/2015, totaling MOP1.5 million, ranging from an array of events such as the annual Charity Ball to the Melbourne Cup event and the ILCM Charity Bazaar. The club also toasted its growth in membership – up to 300 members from over 30 nationalities as of June 2015.
The new president of the group, Saroj Chatterjee, gave an emotional speech and thanked the club’s partners, contributors and members for their work. Among those thanked were the Macau Foundation and MdME Law Firm, who have provided legal advice to ILCM over the past five years.
The ILCM is a non-profit, volunteer-run association that assists those in need through charity work, and helps expatriate families adjust to life in Macau. Established in 1984, the organization seeks to bring together and foster friendships between English speakers of different nationalities, backgrounds and interests, mainly through participating in community activities in Macau.
In 2014/2015 the club contributed 1,300 volunteer hours in support of 20 charities, 1,400 people and 2 scholarships in Macau. Donations included the proceeds from the purchase of bathing chairs, wheelchairs, an oxygen machine, bedding and other necessities. Staff reporter
