The two designated firecracker zones in Macau and Taipa have officially closed, concluding a festive season that saw increased firecracker imports but fewer safety incidents compared to last year. This year, imports reached 2,000 boxes, a 25% increase from last year. Of those, 171 boxes, or 8.5%, required disposal, reflecting a decrease from last year’s figures. Despite attracting over 31,000 visitors—down from 35,000 in 2024—the number of first aid cases declined, with 24 reported in Macau and 39 in Taipa, primarily involving minor incidents.
