MGM Creates a Pet-Friendly Space at Barra District

To further revitalize Barra District into a vibrant “community lifestyle hub” that combines trendy commercial components with the warmth of neighborhood life, MGM launched the Barra District “Summer Hype” Series Event this July. The series’ fourth pillar event Matsui “The Dog” 1st Overseas Solo Exhibition in Macau was freshly unveiled earlier in August, bringing local SMEs from various industries together to jointly enrich Barra’s lifestyle and retail offerings.

The event features a collaboration between MGM and the local trendy fashion retail brand THE BIG APPLE – jointly bringing in the first overseas solo exhibition of Japan’s popular illustrator Mr. Matsui at Navy Yard No.1. Alongside the exhibition, a pop-up store has been set up, offering limited-edition products, respectively co-designed with Japanese fashion brand BEAMS and international accessory brand CASETiFY. These items include pet-themed merchandise such as T-shirts, tote bags, towels, and electronic accessories. Matsui’s illustrations are also available for purchase on-site.

Additionally, MGM has expanded the themed offerings, such as collaborating with a local specialty café brand COTIZ to establish a pet-friendly coffee shop at Navy Yard No. 2; introducing local pet product SMEs Dog Inn; also helping Petly Duffy, another local SME specializing in artisanal pet food and care products, to set up its first offline store; organizing weekly DIY workshops taught by local artists. The whole objective is to join forces with local partners to create a brand-new space for pet-friendly lifestyle and retail environment.

A differentiation approach is integral when it comes to city revitalization. As such, MGM aims to constantly inject personalized and lifestyle components to foster a unique and vibrant atmosphere at Barra District. This latest event goes further beyond by utilizing both indoor and outdoor spaces to create a large pet-friendly venue, including an outdoor “Dog Park”. MGM has also introduced a weekend “Pet Shuttle” to offer transportation service for dog owners and their pets. In addition, a certain portion of the event’s proceeds will go to local pet charities.
