Chef Ricardo Chaneton of one Michelin-starred restaurant Mono by JIA Group will host Asia’s Best Female Chef 2024, Chef Pichaya “Pam” Soontorniyakij of one Michelin-starred Restaurant Potong in an exclusive Mono’s 10th edition of its Unplugged collaboration series on the April 23rd and 24th at Mono in Hong Kong.
This event marks an exciting moment for food enthusiasts, as both chefs celebrate their cultural heritage through modern culinary techniques that elevate traditional flavours and recipes. At Mono, Chaneton draws inspiration from his Italian-Venezuelan background, serving innovative creations that have propelled the restaurant to award-winning international acclaim. Soontorniyakij is known for her progressive Thai-Chinese cuisine where she masterfully executes the 5-element philosophy of “Salt, Acid, Spice, Texture, and Millard Reaction” in every dish at Restaurant Potong. She was recently named Asia’s Best Female Chef 2024 by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, and was the first-ever recipient of the Michelin Opening of the Year award in 2023 for Thailand, earning recognition for the successful opening of Restaurant Potong in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown.
“I am very excited to team up with chef Pam. It’s a privilege to bring her distinctive culinary expertise to Hong Kong to cook at Mono upon the city’s dynamic multicultural culinary scene, especially since she is one of the most influential chefs in Asia. We’re creating something that’s unique and personal, inspired by our roots while resonating with Hong Kong diners,” says Chaneton.
“I am thrilled for this opportunity to come to Hong Kong and share my Thai-Chinese heritage. Hong Kong is a vibrant city and I can’t wait to create something new with chef Ricardo at Mono that blends our respective backgrounds,” adds Soontorniyakij.
