The Mozambican Aviation Institute granted an operational certificate to Maputo International Airport on Monday that guarantees it upholds the international standards required for it to receive flights from any country or region.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Carlos Mesquita said at the ceremony to award the certificate, it is important to boost the aviation sector, making it more competitive, taking into account “Mozambique’s tourism potential and diversity.”
The certificate is a document that provides a guarantee to all countries in the world that the company is within the safety standards required to receive flights coming from any part of the globe.
A team from the Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique has been working at Maputo International Airport for three years, during which it audited accounts and renovated runways and parking bays for domestic and international flights. The Civil Aviation Institute of Mozambique now plans to certify the airports of Beira and Nampula. Until last year Mozambique was included in the European aviation blacklist. MDT/Macauhub
